皆さんこんにちは。今日はことわざ第10弾です。
今日のことわざは「月夜に提灯」です。
今日2021年5月26日は24年ぶりの皆既日食かつスーパームーンでした。
曇っていて埼玉県ではまったく見えなかったのでとても残念でした。
さて、類似していることわざには、「無用の長物」や「昼行燈」があります。

Today May 26, 2021 was the first total solar eclipse and super moon in 24 years.
It was cloudy and I couldn’t see it at all in Saitama prefecture, so I was very disappointed.
Now, similar sayings include “useless long objects” and “daylights.“

由来
月夜は十分明るいので、提灯を灯す必要がないことから。
Origin
The moonlit night is bright enough that there is no need to light the lanterns.
意味
必要がない、役に立たない、むだなことのたとえ。
Meaning
The parable of unnecessary, useless, wasteful things.
例・使い方
こんな快晴の日に傘を持ってくるなんて、月夜に提灯もいいところだ。
Example / How to use
Bringing an umbrella on such a sunny day is a good place to have a lantern on a moonlit night.
提灯とは？
竹ひご（竹の茎を細かく割って作られた細い棒）で作った枠に紙をはってかご状にし、その中にろうそくを立てた昔の携帯用の照明具です。
現在では、明かりを灯すのはろうそくから電球に変わりましたが、お祭りの照明や飲食店の店頭の飾りなどに使われています。
What is a lantern?
It is an old portable lighting device in which paper is put on a frame made of bamboo sticks (thin sticks made by breaking bamboo stems into small pieces) to make a basket, and candles are erected in it.
Nowadays, candles are used to light light bulbs, but they are used for festival lighting and decorations at restaurants.
コメント
雲が無く、空気が澄んでいる時に出ている月の光は、自分の影が映るくらい本当に明るいですよね。
昔は大気汚染もなく、空気がきれいで月の光が本当に明るかったからこそ、このようなことわざが生まれたのではないかと思います。
そう思うと、深く考えさせられることわざだなと感じました。

The moonlight that comes out when there are no clouds and the air is clear is so bright that you can see your own shadow.
I think that such a saying was born because there was no air pollution in the past, the air was clean, and the moonlight was really bright.
With that in mind, I felt it was a proverb that made me think deeply.
