今日のことわざは「紺屋の白袴」です。
「こうやのしろばかま」と読み、紺屋とは染物屋、白袴とは白い袴のことです。
類義語には「医者の不養生」や「坊主の不信心」があります。

Today’s saying is “Koya no Shirobakama“.
Koya is a dye shop, and Shirobakama is a white hakama.

由来
紺屋は白い袴を染める染物屋なのに、自分は染めていない白い袴を着ていることから。
Origin
Koya is a dyeing shop that dyes white hakama, but I wear undyed white hakama.
意味
人のために働いてばかりで、自分のことに手が回らないこと。
Meaning
I’m just working for people and I can’t handle myself.
例・使い方
お姉ちゃんの部屋は、床も見えないほど散らかっている。
清掃のアルバイトをしているのに、これでは紺屋の白袴だね。
Example / How to use
My sister’s room is so cluttered that I can’t even see the floor.
Even though I have a part-time job for cleaning, this is Koya no Shirobakama.
紺屋とは？
「こうや」または「こんや」と読み、もともとは藍染め専門の職人のことです。
しかし江戸時代には、染物屋全体を意味するようになりました。
紺屋が多く住んでいたところは紺屋町と呼ばれ、今も各地にその地名が残っています。
What is Koya?
It is read as “koya” or “konya” and is originally a craftsman specializing in indigo dyeing.
However, in the Edo period, it came to mean the entire dye shop.
The place where many Koya lived is called Koya-cho, and the place names still remain in various places.

まずは自分自身を見直すべきという感慨深いことわざでした。
