皆さんこんにちは。息子がことわざ大辞典を買ってきました。

ことわざ大辞典をちょっと見せてもらったら、これがなかなか面白い。
まんがで見やすくサクサクと見終えてしまいました。
なかなか学ぶ機会もないので、勉強も兼ねてブログに記していこうと思います。

If you show me the proverbial dictionary for a moment, this is quite interesting.
It’s easy to see with manga, and I’ve finished looking at it crisply.
I don’t have a chance to learn, so I’ll write it on my blog as well as studying.

今日のことわざは、大人気の鬼滅の刃で出てくる、煉獄杏寿郎（れんごくきょうじゅろう）の名言のひとつ「穴があったら入りたい」にしたいと思います。

Today’s saying is “I wish the ground would swallow me“, which is one of the quotes of Kyojuro Rengoku that comes out with the popular Demon Slayer.

由来
もとは中国からきたことば。
意味
人前からかくれてしまいたいほど、はずかしいこと。自分がはずかしいときに使うことばで、他人には使わない。
例・使い方
学芸会の芝居でセリフを忘れてしまい、大恥をかいた。穴があったら入りたい気持ちだった。
ことわざ豆知識　由来は麦？
敵が攻めてくると知った領主は、敵の食料となるくらいならと、領内の麦を刈り、民に配るよう家来に命じます。しかし家来は「麦を刈って普段さぼっている者にまで与えたら、また敵が攻めてくればいいと思ってしまう」と反対しました。それを聞き、領主は自分の考えの浅はかさに、「穴があったら入りたいほどはずかしい」と言ったそうです。

I forgot the lines in the school festival play, and I was very embarrassed. I felt like “I wish the ground would swallow me”.

Knowing that the enemy is attacking, the lord orders his servants to cut the wheat in the territory and distribute it to the people, if it is enough to feed the enemy. However, the servant objected, “If you cut the wheat and give it to those who are usually hungry, you will think that the enemy should attack again.” Upon hearing that, the lord said, “I wish the ground would swallow me” in the shallowness of my thoughts.

ことわざは聞いたことはあっても、由来や意味は分からないことが多いですよね。
面白いので少しずつ学んでいければと思います。
